What is a chocolate fountain ?

A chocolate fountain is essentially a stainless steel device that serves melted chocolate fondant. A motor at the base of the fountain melts chocolate pastilles, which are placed in a heating tray. A central screw-like feeder pushes the melted chocolate up through a column in the middle. When it reaches the top of the 60-100 cm high and multi-level fountain, the chocolate overflows and flows down. The chocolate flows onto the rim on the top level, then to the one below it, until it reaches the bottom level. Once the chocolate cascade reaches the bottom of the fountain, the whole process is repeated. It is very important that the fountain is level, because only then can the chocolate completely cover the rims. This is achieved by positioning the adjustable feet under the fountain in the correct position. The first melting of the chocolate can be done in a microwave or over steam.

Chocolate with a high cocoa butter content, such as the Callebaut Belgian chocolate used by Rendezvényszervíz, is ideal for use in fountains. The chocolate can be milk, dark or white chocolate. Since white chocolate can be perfectly colored, Rendezvényszervíz chocolates can be ordered in different colors (e.g. red, purple, black, pink, brick red, dark green, orange, etc.). Chocolate with a low cocoa butter content can be supplemented with vegetable oil; too much of this, however, can impair the smoothness and taste of the chocolate.

Chocolate fountains are rented out by various catering companies and party supply stores, but Rendezvényszervíz takes on all the inconveniences associated with operating a chocolate fountain, including decorating the serving table, preparing the dipping ingredients, peeling fruit, assembling the fountain, setting it up, refilling it with chocolate, etc. Not to mention dismantling the fountain at the end of the evening, cleaning it, and washing up the serving bowls. They offer various dipping ingredients for the chocolate flowing in the fountain, such as fresh seasonal and exotic fruits, marshmallows, sponge cakes, wafer sticks, dried fruit, puszedli, and several types of flavor enhancers (coconut flakes, almonds, walnuts, cake crumbs, cinnamon, chili, etc.). These can be threaded onto wooden skewers and dipped into the fountain.

Chocolate fountains are available in both home and commercial versions, which can be used for various occasions, such as house parties, birthday celebrations, graduations or weddings. In fact, a chocolate fountain is a must-have for any event where people with a sweet tooth can be found. A home fountain is ideal for a gathering of about 10 to 15 people, while a commercial version can serve up to 100 people.

Chocolate fountains are usually operated for 3-4 hours during a party. During this time, most of the chocolate and dipping sauces are used up. The most common time at events is probably when the guests are waiting. The experience can be further enhanced if there is a drink fountain next to it, from which champagne flows as a welcome drink. The time after dinner is also popular, when the other desserts are served. Moreover, since the most common dipping sauces for a chocolate fountain are fruits, a fruit palm, which is a fruit creation resembling a palm tree, can be a perfect choice. Guests can remove the pieces of fruit that have been previously attached to it and even dip them in chocolate. It can also be an additional element of a buffet or standing reception.

Installing a chocolate fountain outdoors is not recommended, as the smell of chocolate attracts insects and even a slight breeze can disrupt the flow of chocolate.
